Rehearsal Proceeds Without Choir and Soloists

BRISBANE — Queensland Ballet has cancelled the scheduled media call for its upcoming production of Messa da Requiem, set to take place today. The decision was made to allow the choir and soloists to rest, according to a statement from the company.

The rehearsal will now feature only dancers with piano accompaniment, as visiting choreographer Christian Spuck requested additional time with the dancers ahead of the performance’s opening night tomorrow. The company confirmed that all performances will continue as scheduled.

Performance Schedule and Details

Messa da Requiem is a collaboration with Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Brisbane Chorale, and Canticum Chamber Choir, showcasing Verdi’s iconic score. Performances are scheduled from March 27 to April 4, 2026, at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre’s Glasshouse Theatre. Ticket prices range from $58 to $116, with bookings available online.

Queensland Ballet expressed apologies for any inconvenience and emphasised their commitment to artist care. For media inquiries, communications manager Claire Vince is the point of contact.

In addition to the performances, there will be a series of workshops and lectures open to the public. This initiative is part of Queensland Ballet’s commitment to community engagement and education.
