Maroons complete 3-0 series sweep in Sydney
Queensland completed a 3-0 PBR Origin sweep in Sydney, beating New South Wales to reclaim the series and secure the Maroons’ sixth title in the PBR Australia Monster Energy Origin Series.
In front of a packed crowd at Sydney’s TikTok Entertainment Centre, Queensland posted 854.15 points from 10 qualified rides. New South Wales managed 254.90 points from three rides.
The result capped an unbeaten 2026 campaign for the Maroons after earlier wins in Newcastle and Brisbane. As a result, Queensland finished the series with a clean sweep.
Meanwhile, New South Wales rider Toby Collins claimed Cowboy of Origin honours. He also collected the $30,000 bonus after the strongest individual series for the Blues.
Zane Hall wins Sydney event
Athol rider Zane Hall led Queensland’s charge in Sydney. He won the event with an aggregate score of 171.90 points and earned 252 championship points.
Hall opened with an 84.80-point ride aboard Asmodeus. He then backed it up with 87.10 points on Man Glitter to seal event honours.
After Thomas Triplett suffered an injury, Hall also stepped in for the team in round 2. That ride brought another 87.30 points on El Chappo.
Rylee Ward produced the top ride of the night for Queensland. His 88.75-point score aboard Alpha Blokes Warden was the highest marked ride of the event and the best score of his PBR career.
Alpha Blokes Warden also delivered the top bull score of the night at 43.45 points. According to event figures, the reigning Bucking Bull of the Year again showed why he ranks among Australia’s best bulls.
Queensland’s win also relied on key rides from Calliope’s Ben Bode, Mareeba’s Kurt Shephard and Rockhampton’s Caiden Sandilands. Their scores helped the Maroons finish the 2026 Origin campaign unbeaten.
PBR Australia General Manager Glen Young praised Queensland’s full-series effort. He said the team rode with confidence and teamwork from Origin 1 in Newcastle through the final stop in Sydney.
“To win an Origin series is difficult. To go into Sydney and finish the job with a 3-0 clean sweep is something pretty special,” Young said.
Young also highlighted Collins’ consistency across all three rounds. That form made the New South Wales rider a worthy Cowboy of Origin despite the Blues’ series defeat.
Following the Origin series, the PBR Australia Monster Energy Tour moves to Melbourne. The next stop is the Melbourne Invitational at a sold-out John Cain Arena.
