Free Session for Primary Producers
Rabobank will host a free Business Transition and Succession Planning session in Middlemount on 3rd June 2026. This event is designed to assist primary producers with family farm succession and business transition challenges.
Organized by Rabobank’s Queensland Rabo Client Council, the session aims to provide practical insights into improving family and business communication, effective strategies for meetings, and how to accommodate differing family goals.
Jim Benson, the Director of Transition Partners, will lead the session. During the event, he will share different scenarios of family enterprise succession, highlighting potential issues that may arise from varying dynamics. The session is an information-sharing opportunity drawing on Mr. Benson’s first-hand knowledge.
Interactive Session Details
Scheduled from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm, the session is limited to 30 participants and is not restricted to Rabobank clients. Attendees will be provided with morning tea and lunch.
Ramo Imsirovic, a Rabo Client Council member and Capella-based beef producer, emphasised the importance of early planning. “Involving kids from a young age in succession conversations is so important for setting the next generation up for success,” he said.
Since its inception in 2024, Rabobank’s Business Transition and Succession Planning Information Session programme has conducted 33 sessions across Australia, reaching over 770 participants. This initiative demonstrates Rabobank’s commitment to supporting the agricultural community.
Polly Saraiva, Rabobank’s state manager for Queensland, highlighted the session’s goal to improve communication skills and create strategies for a successful business transition. She noted, “Understanding the perspectives of all generations involved is crucial.”
The session content will include suggestions on starting conversations about business succession. Participants will explore key aspects of organizing initial meetings to discuss management, business, property, and wealth transition.
This Middlemount event is part of a broader series aimed at enhancing the vibrancy and resilience of rural Australia. These sessions are led and funded by Rabo Client Councils, which consist of innovative Rabobank farming clients passionate about community impact. According to Rabobank, the councils support activities designed to make a meaningful impact.
Interested producers are encouraged to register via the Rabobank website to secure a spot, as spaces are limited and the session is expected to fill up quickly. The registration deadline is 25th May 2026.
