Ferrari, Mustang and Brock Commodore lead July results
Retro Rides’ RR Auctions sold more than $1.5 million worth of vehicles in July, led by a 2012 Ferrari F12berlinetta that made $390,000.
July’s result came as the Australian-owned platform moved to weekly auctions and launched RR Finance for buyers of performance, classic and collector vehicles.
Leading the month was the Rosso Corsa Ferrari F12berlinetta, which had a tan interior, 22,114 kilometres and a complete Ferrari International digital service history.
Other high-value sales included a Ford Mustang Dark Horse at $100,000, a 2015 Aston Martin Vanquish at $95,000 and a 2012 BMW 1M Coupe at $74,500.
Australian muscle also featured in the July sales. A matching-numbers 1985 HDT VK SL Group A Brock Commodore barn find sold for $30,000.
Retro Rides listed the Commodore as HDT build number 1776 and said it was believed to be one of about 50 produced.
Buyers also picked up a gently modified 1969 Fiat 500 F for $22,750, showing the range from affordable classics to European exotics.
RR Finance and weekly auctions
Auctions now run for nine days, opening on a Monday and closing on the following Wednesday, with new vehicles added daily.
Founder Cameron Jurd said the switch had improved turnover for sellers and kept fresh stock in front of buyers. “Shifting to weekly auctions has had a positive impact for both our buyers and sellers, with sellers now able to get cars sold faster and buyers seeing new vehicles on site daily.”
Alongside that change, Retro Rides launched RR Finance, which connects buyers with more than 80 lenders that specialise in performance, classic and collector vehicles.
Before bidding, buyers can use an online calculator, seek pre-approval and then complete an application through the platform.
Retro Rides has also expanded into motorcycles, widening its stock while keeping its focus on enthusiast vehicles.
Safeguards on RR Auctions include vehicle history checks, government identification verification for bidders and transaction funds held in trust until agreed terms are met.
The current auction includes a 2019 Porsche 911 (991.2) Carrera and a limited-edition 2008 Aston Martin V8 Vantage N400.
