More than 190 cars complete seven-day drive from Port Douglas
More than 190 teams are arriving in Melbourne to complete Shitbox Rally 2026 Autumn after driving more than 3,500 kilometres in seven days from Port Douglas.
Every car in the convoy is worth no more than $1,500, and each team raises at least $5,000 for Cancer Council.
According to organisers, 100% of donations go directly to Cancer Council to fund cancer research.
The route included outback roads, river crossings, dust and repeated mechanical problems before the convoy reached Melbourne.
Many teams raise well above $5,000 because they enter Shitbox Rally to honour loved ones affected by cancer.
Founder and CEO James Freeman called the Melbourne finish line deeply emotional after seven days of breakdowns and long drives.
James Freeman on Melbourne finish
Freeman said: “Every team has a story, whether it’s overcoming constant breakdowns, honouring a loved one, or achieving something they never thought possible.”
He also highlighted the scale of the finish, with hundreds of decorated vehicles arriving together in Melbourne after a week on the road.
Following the drive from Port Douglas, fundraising continues beyond the finish through donations and a post-rally auction of the cars.
The traditional auction adds more support for Cancer Council after Shitbox Rally 2026 Autumn ends in Melbourne.
Organisers are encouraging the public to attend the Melbourne finish line and cheer on the more than 190 teams.
Media opportunities in Melbourne include interviews, human-interest stories and access to the rally’s themed vehicles.
James Freeman said the shared finish shows what hundreds of teams can achieve when they unite behind cancer research.
