Enhancing IT Operations with AI
On April 15, SolarWinds unveiled SW1, an AI-powered tool in Austin, Texas. This innovation is designed to transform IT automation by providing a unified platform for managing and protecting IT systems. SW1 is built on the SolarWinds Agentic Framework and aims to shift IT operations from reactive problem-solving to proactive resilience. It functions across on-premises data centers, private cloud, public cloud, and hybrid architectures.
Organisations can use SW1’s single trusted interface to orchestrate AI throughout their environment. Grounded in AI by Design principles, SW1 ensures responsible and secure AI development. As hybrid environments expand and multi-cloud becomes standard, IT teams face rising pressure. Therefore, organisations are focusing on greater visibility, faster detection, and increased automation.
SW1 allows IT teams to use natural language to interact with agents, gaining comprehensive insights into system performance, capacity, and health. It operates across both SolarWinds Observability Self-Hosted and SaaS, helping teams anticipate problems before users encounter them.
Cullen Childress, Chief Product Officer at SolarWinds, emphasised the shift from managing complexity to driving strategy. He stated, “This isn’t just about operational efficiency. It’s about giving your best people the room to architect what comes next, while SW1 handles the operational weight underneath.”
SW1’s Future Capabilities
SolarWinds plans to enhance SW1 with new features for service reliability, governance, and autonomous issue resolution. By 2026, SW1 will predict service level agreement risks, enabling proactive intervention through generated runbooks and workflows from existing knowledge bases.
The platform will streamline onboarding by automatically discovering unmanaged assets and recommending monitoring coverage. It will also create initial dashboards, alerts, and service views, allowing IT teams to quickly gain insights into system performance.
SW1 will reduce alert noise by filtering duplicate and low-value alerts, correlating related signals, and highlighting the most critical issues. Security and compliance will be strengthened through customer-defined guardrails, ensuring maintained governance.
Currently, SW1 is available within SolarWinds Observability SaaS and Self-Hosted IT environments. These innovations mark a significant step in IT automation, positioning SolarWinds as a key player in the field.
