Revitalised beer garden, kids’ play area, modernised dining and more
The wait is over as the Esplanade Hotel Queenscliff officially reopened its doors on Tuesday, September 23, unveiling a refreshed look and an exciting new era for the Bellarine Peninsula. Originally established in 1879, the iconic venue has been revitalised while honouring its heritage and local legacy.

Venue manager Mitch Kovacic, who has been at the helm for three years, says the community energy leading up to the reopening has been incredible. “We are so excited to have re-opened the doors of this beautiful pub. Our local legend has gotten a new lease on life, and we know our locals will love it – the buzz in the area has been awesome in the lead up to today!” The anticipation has been palpable, with many locals eagerly discussing the palace hotel camberwell renovation details on social media. Mitch adds, “We’ve ensured that the renovations honor the history of the pub while adding modern touches that enhance the experience for our patrons.” As the doors open, there’s a renewed sense of community spirit, with familiar faces coming together to celebrate the next chapter of this cherished establishment.
A welcoming coastal pub atmosphere
Inside, guests will find the heart of a true coastal pub. The interiors feature warm timber accents, complemented by ocean-inspired tones of blue and green. Whether you’re a local regular or stepping off the ferry, the Esplanade offers a welcoming environment designed to celebrate its seaside setting.
Sports, family fun and a buzzing beer garden
The Sports Bar is now the ultimate spot for game-day action, complete with wall-to-wall TV screens, a pool table, high-top seating, ambient lighting, an open fireplace and a fully dedicated bar. For families and social gatherings, the revamped beer garden is a standout. With picnic-style tables, large outdoor screens, native landscaping, and an expanded kids’ play area, it has quickly become a go-to destination. Adding to the experience, visitors can enjoy seasonal gin tasting paddles while soaking up the coastal sunshine.

A menu that celebrates local flavours
The Esplanade Hotel’s new menu is inspired by the coast, highlighting fresh seasonal produce alongside much-loved pub classics. Highlights include Half Scallops with finger lime hollandaise and pink peppercorn, Harissa Lamb Skewers with smoky eggplant and native dukkha, and traditional plates like juicy burgers, beer battered Victorian rockling, and Australian pork chops. Designed for sharing, the menu blends modern dining with comfort favourites.
