The Rochey delivers great value in eating and drinking this summer
Fitzroy locals and inner north visitors now have even more reason to head out this summer. The Rochey has rolled out a full calendar of value-driven food and drink specials designed for everyday dining, festive catch-ups and long afternoons with friends. Now trading seven days a week, the much-loved neighbourhood pub is leaning into what it does best. Good food, fair prices and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.
Importantly, the focus is on consistency rather than gimmicks. While many venues lift prices over summer, The Rochey has gone the other way. Instead, it has built a weekly lineup that rewards regulars and invites new faces through the door.
Meanwhile, the timing could not be better. As Melbourne moves through the festive season and into the new year, many diners want quality without the splurge. The Rochey delivers exactly that, without cutting corners on portion size or flavour.

Weekly specials that make sense
The backbone of The Rochey’s summer offering is its structured weekly specials. Each day brings something different, which makes it easy to plan repeat visits.
In addition, Happy Hour runs longer than most. On Mondays, it lasts all day. From Tuesday to Sunday, it runs from 4pm to 7pm, with $8 wines, $9 pints and $14 cocktails. Later in the week, Wednesday to Saturday, also feature a late Happy Hour from 9pm to 10pm, with $14 cocktails. As a result, after work drinks and late nights both stay affordable.
Workers looking for a solid midday option are covered, too. From Monday to Friday, The Rochey offers a Worker’s Lunch that includes a classic schnitty or a new falafel dish. Each comes with a soft drink or a pot for $20. This runs Monday to Thursday from 12pm to 2.30pm and extends to 4pm on Fridays. Therefore, it suits office workers and WFH locals alike.

Daily reasons to visit
Every day of the week has its own hook. Mondays feature a $17 Steak Sanga alongside the all day Happy Hour. On Tuesdays, schnitty lovers can enjoy $22 schnitzels, $25 parmas and a free pot.
Wednesdays bring $15 burgers, with beef, chicken and veggie options available. Trivia night makes it even better. Thursday’s focus on steak night, with a 250g porterhouse, fries, salad and house-made sauces for $22. During Happy Hour, guests can also add a glass of wine for $8.
Fridays keep things simple and fun. Wings are $1 each from open to close, unless sold out earlier. Meanwhile, Saturdays shift into sharing mode between 12pm and 5pm. Diners can enjoy $10 nachos and $1 wings, which suit long afternoons in the beer garden.
Sundays, however, are all about tradition. A proper pub roast with all the trimmings is priced at $25. In addition, jugs are $20, and Negronis are $16. As a result, Sundays feel like a reward rather than the end of the weekend.
Beyond the menu, The Rochey’s appeal comes from its atmosphere. The leafy, dog-friendly beer garden invites people to stay longer. Pool tables, live music and a friendly team add to the sense of ease. Consequently.
The venue also carries serious history. Sitting on Johnston Street between Brunswick and Smith, it has long been a creative hub. Musicians, artists and locals shaped its character across the 70s, 80s and 90s.

A thoughtful approach to hospitality
Castle Group now oversees a small collection of boutique venues across Melbourne. Each has a distinct personality, from plant-based pub Green Man’s Arms to Spanish-inspired Añada. The Rochey remains the classic local in the group, offering honest pub food with a few surprises.
Ultimately, the group’s philosophy centres on people. Chefs, managers and front-of-house staff drive the experience. Because of that, guests feel welcome whether they pop in once or come back every week.
