Brunetti Classico arrives at Melbourne Airport Terminal
Brunetti Classico has confirmed plans to open a major new venue at Melbourne Airport Terminal 1 in December 2025. The opening aligns with the peak summer travel period and marks the brand’s largest airport project to date.
The Terminal 1 launch completes Brunetti Classico’s presence across every terminal at Melbourne Airport. With venues already trading in Terminal 2 and Terminal 4, the brand now holds a full airport footprint, a rare position for a Melbourne hospitality operator.
Near Gate 1 and outside the traditional food court, the new venue offers a different airport dining experience. Instead of fast turnover seating, Brunetti Classico has created a space that mirrors a high street café environment. As a result, travellers can slow down before boarding rather than rushing through a meal.

A large-scale hospitality investment
The Terminal 1 venue spans over 1,000 square metres, making it one of the largest hospitality spaces at Melbourne Airport. This scale reflects a clear shift towards longer dwell times and destination dining inside the terminal.
The layout combines a 350-square-metre Brunetti Classico café with a 400-square-metre adjoining pub. Together, they cater to coffee stops, full meals, and relaxed pre-flight drinks. Above them, a shared 285 square metre lounge overlooks the tarmac and offers lounge-style seating for travellers with time to spare.
In addition, the venue includes charging points, accessible seating, and generous spacing throughout. These practical details support comfort during busy travel periods.
Design rooted in Italian heritage
Technē Architecture + Interior Design led the design of the new Terminal 1 space. The studio has worked closely with Brunetti Classico for years and understands how to translate the brand into large-scale environments.
The design draws inspiration from 1950s Italian cafés, using warm timber tones, tactile finishes, and prominent food displays. However, the space balances character with function. Clear circulation paths and adaptable seating allow the venue to operate smoothly during peak hours.

Menu highlights and exclusive offerings
The Terminal 1 venue introduces exclusive menu items created specifically for the airport setting. These include freshly baked Danish pastries, pizza al taglio, and a curated beer and wine selection designed for any time of day.
Alongside these additions, Brunetti Classico continues to serve its core menu. Italian cakes, biscotti, mignons, traditional panini, savoury meals, and Italian coffee remain central to the offering. The team produces all items in Melbourne, maintaining consistency with the flagship Lygon Street store.
A final taste of Melbourne
Beyond food and design, the Terminal 1 venue plays a symbolic role. For departing passengers, it offers a final taste of Melbourne’s food culture. For arrivals, it delivers an immediate connection to one of the city’s most recognisable hospitality brands.
Fabio Angele, Director at Brunetti Classico, says the opening reflects the brand’s ongoing journey.
“Wherever you’re flying, Brunetti Classico is now there to meet you. This space is a celebration of our roots, our hospitality, and our story in Carlton — now reaching every terminal at Melbourne Airport and giving travellers a final taste of Melbourne before they depart.”
The Terminal 1 opening reinforces Brunetti Classico’s position within Melbourne’s food landscape. It also signals a broader shift in how airport dining can deliver quality, identity, and a genuine sense of place.
