Discoteca Italiana runs from 7pm to 11pm on 6th June 2026
Discoteca Italiana will take over Melbourne Museum for one night on Saturday, 6th June 2026, turning the Museum’s Ground and Lower Ground Floors into an after-hours Italian nightlife event from 7pm to 11pm.
The event has been created to run alongside ROME: Empire, Power, People, giving ticket holders after-hours access to the exhibition while the Museum hosts live music, DJs, Italian food, espresso martinis, photo moments and tarot readings.
Tickets are now on sale, with entry priced at $40 for adults, $35 for members and $30 for concession holders. Ticket prices include access to ROME: Empire, Power, People during the evening.
Music will sit at the centre of the night, led by Italo-pop performer, opera singer and disco-pop artist Tanzer. DJ sets will also come from Dischi Marciano and Hysteric, with the event centred on Italian dance culture, disco, and live performance.
Food and drink will come from a line-up of Italian-led vendors and partners. Brunetti Classico will serve tiramisu, gelati carts and roving cannoli with Floridia Cheese, while Segafredo will support the Espresso Social Club with espressos and espresso martinis.
After-hours access to ROME
The main draw beyond the nightlife element is access to ROME: Empire, Power, People outside regular Museum hours. The exhibition focuses on Roman art, culture and daily life, with artefacts and stories connected to the empire’s influence.
Discoteca Italiana adds a social layer to the exhibition, using music, food and late-night access to give the Museum a different pace for one evening. The event will also include the Amore Photo Booth, described as a vintage disco-inspired portrait experience with props and themed lighting.
Tarot & Love Readings will also run during the night, drawing on Italian mysticism with romantic readings in a candlelit setting.
The event is supported by the Italian Australian Foundation, which works to advance appreciation of Italian culture, skills, language and heritage. Its contribution will support Museums Victoria in delivering adult and family events connected to Italian culture and the influence of Italian Australians in Victoria.
