TSANZ Announces New Board Composition for 2026

PERTH — The Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand (TSANZ) has unveiled its new board composition for 2026, following recent elections. The announcement was made during the TSANZSRS Annual Scientific Meeting in Perth, confirming Professor Vanessa McDonald as President-Elect, who will serve in this role for one year before assuming the presidency in March 2027.

TSANZ also welcomed four new member-elected directors: Associate Professors Katrina Tonga and Nicole Goh, alongside Doctors Paul Dawkins and Richard Kim. Professor Shyamali Dharmage has been re-elected, and Professor Andrew Chan steps in as the Australian Branch Board Director. This announcement coincides with the release of TSANZ’s Strategic Plan 2026-2031, focusing on lung health priorities.

Board Changes and Strategic Plan

Professor Natasha Smallwood, current TSANZ President, highlighted the depth of expertise the new board members bring, stating that their experience in respiratory medicine and leadership will be pivotal in guiding TSANZ’s initiatives across Australia and New Zealand. She also acknowledged the contributions of outgoing board members, including Past President Professor Anne Holland, thanking them for their service.
