Twilio's Continued Dominance in CPaaS
Twilio has been recognised as a leader in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Communications Platform as a Service (CPaaS), marking the fourth consecutive year it has received this accolade. This announcement was made on 20th May.
Twilio attributes its top position on the Ability to Execute axis to its commitment to providing infrastructure for customer engagement in the artificial intelligence era. Major brands such as Best Buy, Netflix, All Nippon Airways, and CLEAR trust the company's services.
Kathryn Murphy, SVP of Product at Twilio, stated, "Twilio believes it created the CPaaS category, and four consecutive years as a Leader reflects how much we've continued to shape it. What started as APIs for SMS and voice has evolved into a full platform for continuous, contextual customer engagement."
Innovations and Platform Expansion
Twilio has expanded its platform with recent innovations. Voice AI and Conversation Relay allow developers to create sophisticated voice agents using natural language processing. The Agentic Platform Capabilities enable businesses to connect AI agents to Twilio's communication channels, ensuring persistent and actionable conversations.
The company's redesigned Twilio Console now serves as a centralised command centre. It features Twilio Workbench for developer productivity and an integrated AI assistant, which simplifies the management of Twilio products.
Twilio has been named the company to beat for AI CPaaS by Gartner in late 2025. This recognition affirms Twilio's place as the platform that enterprises and developers turn to as AI reshapes how businesses engage with their customers.
Twilio's innovations also include Conversation Intelligence. This feature extends capabilities with generative AI language operators, transforming live conversations into real-time intelligence that enhances human agents and triggers automated workflows.
