Support for Rural Young Women Across Australia
Announcing a national expansion, the Warrior Woman Foundation aims to reach vulnerable young women through its Young Warrior Woman Program. Research by Federation University highlights that 41% of rural women report a lack of equal career opportunities compared to men. This programme expansion addresses these challenges.
Launched in 2020, over 200 young women from New South Wales and Queensland have already benefited from the program. They receive personalized guidance from mentors and participate in life skills education, including financial literacy, career readiness, and confidence-building.
For the first time, the programme will be available online, enabling young women aged 17 to 25 from regional areas across Australia to access mentoring and workshops. This development ensures that participants nationwide can receive the same level of support as those attending in person.
Jessica Brown, the founder and a past recipient of the NSW Women of the Year Award, expressed pride in the program’s national reach. She created the initiative to help young women at risk of not completing high school or transitioning from care systems. “Sharing the wisdom of our mentors on a national scale is a step I am incredibly proud of,” she stated.
Programme Expansion Details
Growing demand for initiatives connecting young women with mentors has driven the expansion. Since inception, the need for a robust support system to help young women navigate their futures has become evident. Jessica Brown highlights the program’s holistic approach, focusing on resilience, employment pathways, and financial literacy. “Our goal is to equip them with the skills to develop these areas,” she added.
Applications for the next intake are now open, with the programme commencing in June. Young women from all backgrounds are encouraged to register and join the supportive community. The foundation invites them to become part of a network dedicated to building independence and confidence.
In celebration of this expansion, a fundraising luncheon titled ‘Walk Beside Her’ will take place on 16th May at Doltone House. Attendees will hear from keynote speakers Jelena Dokic and Erika Cramer. Tickets start at $175 and are available through the Humanitix website.
Continuing its mission, the Warrior Woman Foundation supports young women across Australia, ensuring they have access to resources and mentors for personal and professional growth. By fostering these opportunities, the programme aims to create a more equitable society where young women can thrive.
