Free Event Highlights Electric Vehicles and Home

Western Sydney families are increasingly adopting clean energy solutions to tackle rising fuel and energy costs. On 30th May 2026, a special event in Rydalmere will showcase the benefits of electric vehicles and home electrification, helping households save on fuel and power costs. The City of Parramatta Council and Parents for Climate Western Sydney are organising this free, family-friendly event to demonstrate how local households can reduce their expenses by switching to electric options.

Reuben Schwarz, a local organizer, stated, “Western Sydney families are doing it tough with the cost of living right now, but switching to electric appliances and vehicles is one of the most effective ways to permanently slash household bills.” This event is scheduled just before World Environment Day, emphasising the importance of clean energy solutions for both financial savings and environmental protection.

Interactive Demos and Expert Panels

Visitors at the Rydalmere Operations Centre will have the chance to explore ten different electric vehicles and speak with electrification experts. Demonstrations will include solar panels, home batteries, and smart EV charging technologies. An expert panel, featuring Jennifer Neil-Smith from the Australian Electric Vehicle Association, will address community questions about grid capacity, charging costs, and solar setups at 11:30am.

Family-friendly activities are also planned, such as solar-powered slot car racing, face painting, and crafts. Kids will enjoy free popcorn powered by an electric vehicle. The EV & Home Electrification Showcase will take place from 10:30am to 12:30pm at the City of Parramatta Rydalmere Operations Centre, located at 316 Victoria Rd, Rydalmere, behind Bunnings. The event is supported by stalls from the NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water, Parents for Climate, local solar installers, an EV charging startup, and a Sydney-based electric moped company.

According to Reuben Schwarz, “Our community is hungry for solutions.” This overwhelming response has led to a waitlist for the event, underscoring the local interest in practical, clean energy solutions that protect both the environment and family budgets.

Journalists, photographers, and camera crews are invited to attend the event for photo and interview opportunities. This showcase aims to transform the City of Parramatta Rydalmere Operations Centre into a hub of interactive technology and family fun.
