WEZLANA now matches all Stelara PBS formats
WEZLANA joined the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme in Australia on 1 July 2026 across all four ustekinumab product formats. It became the first ustekinumab biosimilar to secure PBS listing with full format parity to Stelara.
Amgen makes WEZLANA, a biosimilar to Stelara. Its PBS-listed range covers the 130 mg vial, 45 mg vial, 45 mg pre-filled syringe and 90 mg pre-filled syringe.
In July 2026, MedTAS launched myMedtas-Care in Australia. The in-pharmacy programme is built for patients with inflammatory bowel disease who use ustekinumab.
According to MedTAS, myMedtas-Care puts credentialled community pharmacists back into regular care for IBD patients. The programme follows the PBS listing of WEZLANA on 1 July 2026.
Home delivery models have reduced face-to-face contact for some IBD patients in Australia. MedTAS created myMedtas-Care to restore that local pharmacy touchpoint.
Under myMedtas-Care, credentialled pharmacists can administer subcutaneous ustekinumab injections in the pharmacy. They can also coach patients who want to self-inject at home.
Features include digital patient enrolment, Quality Use of Medicines check-ins and automated appointment reminders. MedTAS says those steps are designed to support adherence during ongoing treatment.
Authority code 15397J
A new streamlined authority code, item 15397J, now applies to the 45 mg vial for severe Crohn’s disease continuing treatment. As a result, the administrative pathway for that vial now matches the process already used for pre-filled syringe formats.
With PBS listing across every current ustekinumab presentation, WEZLANA can be used across all listed formats and indications. MedTAS says that gives prescribers and pharmacists confidence to transition patients from Stelara.
