Free Workshops for Farming Families in June
Rabobank will host free succession planning sessions in Yarrawonga and Wodonga this June, aimed at helping farming families with business transition and communication strategies.
The sessions are scheduled for 16th June in Yarrawonga and 17th June in Wodonga. These sessions are part of a nationwide initiative by Rabobank’s Victoria and Tasmania Rabo Client Council to support rural communities.
Jim Benson, director of Transition Partners, will lead the sessions. He will offer insights into effective family communication and business planning. The sessions are open to 30 participants and are not limited to Rabobank clients.
Meaghan Daly, a dairy farmer and Rabo Client Council member, emphasised, “Getting an early start on planning is key for a smooth business transition. Tackling succession ahead of time helps minimise disagreements from differing expectations.”
Daly added that managing a farming business requires a long-term outlook focused on sustainability and continuity. Succession planning is a critical part of that process.
Session Details and Registration
The sessions will cover how to organise initial meetings for discussing management, property, and wealth transition. Practical tools for resolving conflicts will also be provided. Morning tea and lunch will be included.
Rabobank state manager Sally Bull highlighted the importance of these sessions in enhancing communication skills among farming families to ensure a seamless transition of their agricultural business.
Since launching the Business Transition and Succession Planning Information Session programme in 2024, Rabo Client Councils have delivered 33 sessions across Australia, benefiting over 770 participants.
The Yarrawonga and Wodonga events are part of a series of information sessions, led and funded by Rabo Client Councils. They provide farming families with essential skills for business transition and succession planning.
Rabo Client Council member and Jingellic-based dairy farmer, Meaghan Daly, remarked, “Managing a farming business calls for a long-term outlook – focused on business sustainability and continuity. By taking a proactive approach and engaging in clear, early discussions, farming families can help provide certainty, reduce risk, and support a smooth transition to the next generation.”
Farmers interested in attending are encouraged to register promptly as spots are limited. Details and registration can be completed on the Rabobank website.
