Advanced Connectivity Solutions Across Markets

Adtran has unveiled an expansion of its SDG 8700 Series, providing Wi-Fi 7 to a broader spectrum of service tiers and deployment models. This expansion meets the increasing demand for cutting-edge in-home connectivity solutions.

The expanded portfolio introduces new 2.5Gbit/s and 10Gbit/s Wi-Fi 7 platforms. These are designed to support multigigabit services, catering from entry-level offerings to premium tiers, and are applicable across residential, SMB, MDU, and community Wi-Fi deployments. This ensures scalable, high-quality experiences while maintaining operational consistency.

Adtran’s CTO, Christoph Glingener, highlighted the industry’s shift, stating, “Service providers are telling us the decision to adopt Wi-Fi 7 has already been made. The real challenge is deploying it widely and consistently.” Competitive pressure is accelerating Wi-Fi 7 standardization, aiming to deliver high-quality experiences across the entire subscriber base.

The SDG 8700 Series supports both 2.5GbE and 10GbE connectivity. Built on Adtran’s SmartOS platform, these gateways operate within a unified software environment, simplifying upgrades, testing, and operational support. Native support for Intellifi®, TR-369, and Plume ensures flexibility in subscriber experience platforms.

Following the FCC’s recent conditional approval of Adtran’s SDG portfolio, the company is poised to support continued broadband rollout momentum. This approval facilitates the transition to next-generation in-home experiences. The expanded SDG 8700 Series includes third-generation dual-band and tri-band Wi-Fi 7 gateways, featuring optional voice configurations.

Adtran’s strategy ensures service providers can deploy next-generation Wi-Fi broadly and consistently without compromising subscriber experience or operational models. The platforms provide long-term continuity across residential networks, supporting a clean transition from legacy systems to advanced Wi-Fi 7 capabilities.

The announcement underscores Adtran’s commitment to scalable, open platforms, software continuity, and operational flexibility. The SDG 8700 Series reflects a wider portfolio strategy that aligns with current industry standards and future technological advancements.
