Esri links ArcGIS and ServiceNow for real-time mapping in business

Esri has announced ArcGIS for ServiceNow, a new integration that connects the two platforms for the first time. The product will enter beta shortly after the Esri User Conference.

The bidirectional link brings location intelligence into everyday business workflows. Users can view incidents, assets, work orders, facilities, permitting data and other records on maps inside ServiceNow or ArcGIS.

Esri launched the product in Redlands, California, and said it is aimed at commercial businesses, state and local government, health care, utilities, energy, telecom and other sectors that use ServiceNow.

Real-time sharing between the two systems is designed to cut duplicated data. As a result, teams can keep business records and geographic context together without leaving their existing software.

Brian Cross on platform demand

ArcGIS for ServiceNow includes two parts. Connector for ServiceNow brings ServiceNow business data into ArcGIS, while ArcGIS Maps for ServiceNow puts ArcGIS mapping tools inside the ServiceNow AI Platform.

With Connector for ServiceNow, ArcGIS users get direct real-time access to ServiceNow business data. They can spot patterns, act on location-based insights and carry out advanced spatial analysis.

Meanwhile, ArcGIS Maps for ServiceNow lets users display business data on their organisation’s enterprise GIS web maps and web scenes within ServiceNow. That extends spatial insight to the place where ServiceNow users already work each day.

Esri said the release addresses long-standing problems with siloed systems and duplicate records. By linking business process management with GIS, the company expects organisations to make faster and more informed decisions.

Brian Cross, Esri head of Professional Services, said: “As leading enterprise platforms, ServiceNow and ArcGIS are used side-by-side in hundreds of thousands of organisations, so this integration meets a vital demand.”

Esri describes ServiceNow as a control tower for business reinvention. In this setup, ServiceNow users can work with maps powered by ArcGIS, while ArcGIS users can pull in live business data from ServiceNow.

According to Esri, users can also visualise incidents, facilities and work orders in real time within existing systems. However, the company did not give a precise beta date beyond saying it will arrive shortly after the Esri User Conference.
