Live Performances Across Multiple Venues
Berry, NSW, will host a wave of Australian indie music with performances scheduled for 21st and 24th May as part of the A Day Well Spent series. This exciting event will bring together a variety of indie acts, promising a vibrant musical experience for attendees.
Part of the Extend the Weekend campaign, A Day Well Spent is supported by the NSW Government's UPTOWN Grant Program. This initiative aims to boost local tourism and support businesses during off-peak periods, encouraging longer stays and increased visitor engagement.
The music series will feature a mix of touring acts and local talent, curated by the Holy Pavlova music collective. Performers include Cheeky Leash, known for their guitar-driven indie rock, Joe Mungovan with his groove-led style, and GRXCE, a rising Sydney trio. Club Camèl will bring their electropop energy, while local artist Electric Ginger will present a disco-infused indie set.
Electric Ginger, led by Greg Townley, is a Berry local who plays a significant role in reshaping the town's music scene. He stated, "There’s a real appetite for live music beyond the big cities, and Berry is starting to tap into that."
Supporting Local Artists and Businesses
The event provides a valuable platform for artists, strengthening the local community and economy. Precinct Coordinator Kate Dezarnaulds emphasised the series' success, stating, "We’re incredibly proud to have already paid more than 40 musicians through the series."
Visitors can enjoy performances across various venues, including The Berry Hotel and The Garden. These locations offer a 'stay three nights for the price of two' deal to encourage longer stays, enhancing the overall experience for attendees.
The upcoming A Day Well Spent dates are set for 21st and 24th May, with a Funk and Soul weekend scheduled from 18th to 21st June. These events are part of an ongoing effort to promote regional music and tourism.
In addition to the live performances, the series highlights the talents of Sam Allen, an emerging indie artist with strong vocal capabilities, and Ziggy McNeill, a First Nations guitarist with a unique fingerstyle technique. Jack Willis will also showcase his laid-back indie acoustic sound, blending folk and coastal pop.
