Eni awards SLB OneSubsea Phase 3 EPC work

Eni has awarded SLB OneSubsea a major engineering, procurement and construction contract for Phase 3 of the deepwater Baleine project offshore Côte d’Ivoire. Under the deal, SLB OneSubsea will deliver complete subsea production systems for 13 wells.

SLB announced the award from Houston on 12 July 2026. The company said Baleine is one of the most strategically significant offshore developments now under way in the region.

Scope for the EPC contract includes subsea trees, umbilicals, manifolds, multiphase flowmeters and control systems. It also covers installation, commissioning and life-of-field support.

According to SLB, the integrated delivery model is designed to streamline execution and support a fast-track development schedule. No contract value or completion date was disclosed on 12 July 2026.

Project execution will use SLB OneSubsea’s in-country presence and local capabilities in Côte d’Ivoire. As a result, the company expects more efficient delivery across the life of the project.

Mads Hjelmeland, chief executive officer of SLB OneSubsea, said: “Baleine Phase 3 brings together scale and execution certainty.”

He said SLB OneSubsea would use its subsea production system technology and established local presence to help Eni advance the deepwater project efficiently. Hjelmeland also linked the work to long-term offshore resource development in Côte d’Ivoire.

Following earlier phases, Phase 3 adds another large package of subsea equipment and services to the Baleine development. That work reinforces SLB OneSubsea’s role as a technology and execution partner on the project.

SLB trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker SLB. The company says it has operated for 100 years and has a footprint in more than 100 countries.

Meanwhile, SLB says its employees represent almost twice as many nationalities as the number of countries where it operates. Alongside oil and gas work, the group is expanding digital services, decarbonisation efforts and new energy systems.

Within the group, SLB OneSubsea focuses on subsea technology and digital innovation for offshore production. The business says it aims to optimise oil and gas output, decarbonise subsea operations and unlock broader use of subsea solutions.
