NTT Global Data Centres appoints CIMIC unit for Thailand campus works

CIMIC Group company Leighton Asia has won a contract from NTT Global Data Centres for fit-out works at its Bangkok data centre campus in Thailand. Works are scheduled to commence immediately.

Under the contract, Leighton Asia will deliver fit-out works and mechanical, electrical and plumbing installation. The scope covers data halls, supporting infrastructure and associated systems.

In Asia Pacific, the Bangkok contract expands Leighton Asia’s data centre portfolio. It also supports the company’s push into digital infrastructure markets.

NTT Global Data Centres is carrying out the project as part of its continued investment in digital infrastructure in Thailand. No contract value was disclosed in the announcement.

Juan Santamaría, chief executive of ACS Group and HOCHTIEF and executive chairman of CIMIC Group, pointed to rising global demand for digital infrastructure. He argued that clients need experienced partners for complex, mission-critical facilities.

“This award reflects the confidence our clients place in the capabilities of our Group and strengthens our position in the data centre sector,” Santamaría said.

Meanwhile, Leighton Asia managing director Brad Davey described the company as a vertically integrated contractor. He argued that approach helps clients through construction, installation and commissioning.

Davey said Leighton Asia was pleased to partner with NTT Global Data Centres on the Bangkok project. The two companies are working together on critical digital infrastructure in Thailand.

Leighton Asia sits within CIMIC Group, whose history dates back to 1899. CIMIC employs about 40,000 people and operates in around 20 countries.

Across the group, CIMIC includes CPB Contractors and Leighton Asia in engineering and construction. It also includes UGL, Sedgman, Thiess, Pacific Partnerships and EIC Activities.

Following the award, Leighton Asia adds another project in a sector that CIMIC has identified as a growth area. Bangkok joins the group’s wider Asia Pacific work in digital infrastructure.
