Bar Privé opens at 90 Queen Street on 15th July 2026
Reservations have opened for Bar Privé, a new cocktail bar opening on 15th July 2026 at 90 Queen Street, Melbourne, beside Reine & La Rue.
The bar forms part of Privé, a new venue from Edition Hospitality within the former Melbourne Safety Deposit building. The site will also include private dining spaces for celebrations, corporate events and smaller group bookings.
Edition Hospitality said Privé was developed after strong demand for private dining and event bookings at Reine & La Rue. The venue sits around the corner from the two-hatted restaurant, within Melbourne’s historic Gothic Bank precinct.

Bar Privé will be open to the public, with both walk-ins and reservations available. It will also be available for private functions and full venue bookings.
Rebecca Yazbek, founder and CEO of Edition Hospitality Group, said the venue was designed to sit alongside Reine & La Rue while giving the group a more flexible space.
“We’ve seen strong demand for private dining and event experiences at Reine & La Rue, but we also wanted to create a destination people could enjoy in a more flexible way. Bar Privé gives us the opportunity to create a cocktail experience that stands on its own while also sitting naturally alongside Reine.”
Cocktails and private dining
The drinks list will be led by group bar manager Felix Woods, who has more than 15 years of experience across venues including The Everleigh, Above Board, Black Pearl and Romeo Lane in Melbourne, as well as London’s Rushmore Group.

The menu will focus on classic cocktails, with French brandies, fortified wines, Martinis, Champagne cocktails and Sazeracs among the main categories. Drinks will draw from Parisian and New York drinking traditions, with a Kir Royale and Cognac-led Sazerac listed among the key serves.
Food for Bar Privé and The Dining Room has been developed by group culinary director Michael Greenlaw and Reine & La Rue executive chef Andy Roche.
The bar menu will include pork scratchings with French onion dip, duck liver and foie gras parfait with burnt orange marmalade, panisse with roasted garlic aioli and a French dip baguette.
Across the hallway, The Dining Room will act as Privé’s main private dining space, with room for up to 32 guests. It can also be split into two smaller spaces, The Verdon Room and The Wardell Room.
The Dining Room will have function menus, as well as selected signatures from Reine & La Rue.

Interiors have been designed by Sydney studio Untitled Works, led by Stacey King, who also worked on Reine & La Rue. The design draws from the former Melbourne Safety Deposit building and its vault chambers, while keeping a visual connection to Reine & La Rue.
The building sits within a group of nineteenth-century Melbourne buildings linked to figures including Sir George Verdon, William Wardell and William Pitt.
