Surfside Kidz Implements Strict New Conditions

SYDNEY — Batemans Bay’s Surfside Kidz early learning service has reopened its doors this week after a three-month suspension enforced by the NSW Early Learning Commission. The suspension was initially imposed in December 2025 due to concerns over supervision, staffing, and maintenance issues.

The NSW Early Learning Commission confirmed that the service could resume operations on March 2, with strict conditions to ensure the safety and quality of care. These include maintaining an educator above the required ratio and capping attendance at 25 children until an Early Childhood Teacher is employed for six continuous months.

New Compliance Measures

The service is also required to submit weekly attendance records and ensure all staff complete additional child safety training. Acting NSW Early Learning Commissioner Daryl Currie stated, “It is pleasing for us to lift this service’s suspension as a result of the service demonstrating a genuine effort to improve quality and protect children.” Currie emphasised the importance of quality early learning services and the Commission’s commitment to maintaining high standards.

This development follows a trend in the early childhood education sector where regulatory bodies are increasingly enforcing compliance to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children. The Commission will closely monitor Surfside Kidz through regular reports and unannounced visits to ensure adherence to these new conditions.

Parents and guardians have expressed relief and satisfaction with the reopening, citing the importance of having access to quality early learning facilities. Local resident Jane Doe commented, “It’s reassuring to know that Surfside Kidz is taking the necessary steps to provide a safe and nurturing environment for our children. This gives us confidence as parents that our kids are in good hands.”

The early learning centre has also introduced new programmes aimed at fostering child development and engagement. These programmes include interactive learning sessions, outdoor activities, and a focus on creative arts, designed to enhance the children’s learning experience and support their overall growth. With these initiatives, Surfside Kidz aims to set a benchmark for quality early education in the region.
