Two Double Gold awards and one Gold for three umeshu products
CHOYA Umeshu Co., Ltd. Won three prizes at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2026. Its tally included two Double Gold awards and one Gold for umeshu products.
From Habikino City in Osaka Prefecture, the company confirmed the results on 2 July 2026. Shigehiro Kondo serves as president.
Two entries took Double Gold at SFWSC 2026: The CHOYA AGED 3 YEARS EXTRA FRUIT and The CHOYA GOLDEN UME FRUIT.
A third bottle, The CHOYA FRENCH OAK 2016, won a Gold award. CHOYA describes it as French oak barrel-aged umeshu.
Notably, The CHOYA AGED 3 YEARS EXTRA FRUIT has now won at the competition for the third time. By contrast, The CHOYA GOLDEN UME FRUIT reached that mark for the first time.
The CHOYA AGED 3 YEARS EXTRA FRUIT is an aged umeshu infused with ripe ume purée.
Meanwhile, The CHOYA GOLDEN UME FRUIT is presented as a sweets-style product with steeped ume fruit.
Unlike those fruit-led bottles, The CHOYA FRENCH OAK 2016 comes from the French Oak range. As a result, CHOYA’s winners covered both its main The CHOYA line and a craft-style oak-aged product.
The San Francisco World Spirits Competition is run by The Tasting Alliance. CHOYA also pointed readers to the event website and the 2026 results page in its 2 July 2026 announcement.
