South Island showroom extends Crusader's reach across New Zealand

Crusader Caravans has added CMG Campers in Christchurch as a South Island dealer, widening its New Zealand network beyond its Hamilton partnership with Auto Leisure & Marine Group.

The move gives the Australian manufacturer a dedicated South Island showroom to complement its established North Island presence through Hamilton-based ALM Group.

According to Crusader, rising demand from New Zealand buyers for its full-composite caravans drove the expansion across the Tasman. The company linked that demand to the vans’ strength, light weight, luxury interiors and extensive standard inclusions.

Founder and chief executive Serge Valentino said the brand was attracting both first-time caravanners and experienced owners. “We’ve been really encouraged by the response we’re seeing from Kiwi caravanners, both from people who are new to caravanning and experienced owners looking for something different,” Valentino said.

Crusader has traded in New Zealand for years through its long-standing relationship with ALM Group. Valentino credited the Hamilton business with helping introduce the Crusader name to the North Island and build a base for the brand there.

MY26 models gain standard airbag suspension

Crusader’s 2026 range includes a broad mix of floor plans and customisation options. Airbag suspension is now standard across all MY26 XCountry, Excalibur, Musketeer and Gladiator CRV models.

The MY26 update also adds three Designer Series interior themes: Coastal Luxe, Forest Luxe and White Mist. Crusader argues the package offers features not widely matched in the local market.

Valentino said New Zealand buyers had responded to the mix of full-composite construction, interior fit-out, features and standard equipment. He said the customer response showed an appetite in New Zealand for a different type of caravan.

Meanwhile, Crusader’s second brand, Dreamhaven, is also sold through New Zealand dealers. The company positions Dreamhaven at a lower price point for buyers entering caravanning while keeping the same focus on construction quality.

It also says it is the most awarded manufacturer in the history of the Caravan Industry Victoria Hall of Fame and Industry Awards.

Following the Christchurch appointment, CMG Campers will display Crusader models for South Island buyers, while ALM Group continues to represent the brand in Hamilton. Crusader did not give sales targets or a timetable for any further New Zealand dealer additions.
