Appointment confirmed at 25 June 2026 AGM
Diversity Council Australia appointed Coles executive David Brewster to its board at the organisation’s Annual General Meeting on Thursday 25 June 2026.
Brewster is Chief Legal and Safety Officer at Coles Group Limited. His appointment gives board representation to one of DCA’s founding member organisations as the group builds on its 40th anniversary.
Coles was one of 11 organisations that helped establish DCA in 1985. That link made Brewster’s arrival notable as DCA entered its fifth decade.
Board chair Sunita Gloster AM said: “As DCA enters its fifth decade, it’s particularly meaningful to welcome a leader from Coles to our Board. Coles was one of the eleven organisations that helped establish DCA in 1985, recognising that creating fair, safe and inclusive workplaces is both a business and societal imperative. Forty years on, that commitment remains as important as ever.”
According to DCA, Brewster brings executive leadership, governance and board experience. He has also led LGBTQI+ inclusion initiatives, reconciliation efforts and workplace wellbeing programmes.
Gloster added: “David brings deep executive and governance experience from one of Australia’s largest employers, together with a strong commitment to inclusion and workplace wellbeing. We are delighted to welcome him to the Board as we continue to support Australian organisations through a period of significant workforce change.”

The AGM also returned Craig Mutton to the board. Mutton is Transformation Executive at Maurice Blackburn Lawyers.
Meanwhile, outgoing director Annie Pettitt left the board after her tenure. Pettitt is Director Culture and Inclusion at Transport for NSW.
Other board members include deputy chair Chris Lamb, Chief People Officer at the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority, and Peter Chun, CEO of Unisuper.
The board also includes Elizabeth Hristoforidis, Global Head of Regulatory Reporting at Macquarie Group, and Julie Canepa, Head of Architecture Solutions ANZ at Cisco Customer Experience.
Ian Goshko, Global Head of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at Telstra, serves alongside Louise Monger, Vice President Digital Energy at Schneider Electric.
Zak Hammer, Global Head of Delivery, Risk & Transformation at BlueScope Steel, is also on the board. Tara Le Friedman of Increment, Bronwyn Dodd of Indigenous Business Australia Asset Management, and company secretary Laura Raymer complete the group.
DCA is an independent not-for-profit and charitable organisation. It provides research, tools, events, advocacy and education to workplaces, policymakers and the broader community.
The organisation says its network includes nearly 1,300 member organisations across Australia.
