Expanding Digital Finance and Innovation
Global technology firm FPT and Korea’s Shinhan Bank have signed a memorandum of understanding to deepen cooperation in digital finance, startups, and next-generation technologies, with AI as a central component. The partnership was formalized during the Vietnam-South Korea Business Forum held in Hanoi, which was attended by ministers and senior government representatives from both nations. South Korean President H.E. Lee Jae Myung’s official visit to Vietnam coincided with this event, underscoring the significance of the collaboration.
Ministers and senior officials from Vietnam and South Korea witnessed the MoU exchange. Their presence underscored the growing momentum in bilateral cooperation. The agreement aims to leverage Shinhan Bank’s financial expertise and FPT’s digital transformation capabilities to foster innovation in Vietnam and South Korea. By combining strengths, the partnership is expected to support Shinhan Bank’s next phase of growth and open stronger pathways for collaboration.
FPT and Shinhan Bank will explore new opportunities for joint innovation, applying AI and Big Data to accelerate solution development and strengthen ecosystem connectivity. This initiative will unlock new digital value and deepen exchange and cooperation in strategic sectors such as semiconductors, quantum technologies, low-altitude economy, and other next-generation technologies.
Ha Minh Tuan, CEO of FPT Korea, stated, “Together with Shinhan Bank, we will shape more scalable, AI-first models for digital finance while strengthening links between startups, enterprises, and innovation ecosystems across high-potential areas for Vietnam and South Korea.”
Supporting Startup Ecosystems
This partnership offers a platform for startups in both countries to facilitate market entry and growth. FPT and Shinhan Bank will aid Korean and Vietnamese startups in navigating each other’s markets, enhancing local connections, and long-term growth opportunities. The collaboration creates a platform for startups, enterprises, and ecosystem players in both markets to turn ideas into scalable business opportunities.
Jung Sang Hyuk, President & CEO of Shinhan Bank, highlighted Vietnam’s strategic importance, saying, “By strengthening collaboration with leading partners in Vietnam, Shinhan Bank aims to develop innovative financial models and support Korean enterprises in expanding their operations in Vietnam.”
Since 2018, the collaboration built on a relationship focusing initially on digital banking modernization. It has since broadened to encompass a wider range of initiatives, including enhancing operational efficiency for Shinhan Life Insurance through AI and IoT technologies. This ongoing partnership aligns with the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries, where innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship are key drivers of shared growth.
Because Vietnam is emerging as a key hub in the global supply chain, strengthening collaboration between FPT and Shinhan Bank is expected to drive more forward-looking digital financial capabilities in both countries. As Vietnam’s leading technology company, FPT will continue contributing its capabilities in AI, digital transformation, and engineering to cross-border collaborations.
