Global Collaboration to Enhance Vehicle Navigation
HERE Technologies and Baidu Maps have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to deliver advanced in-vehicle navigation and intelligent driving solutions globally, as announced at Auto China 2026 in Beijing. The collaboration aims to integrate HERE’s AI-powered live map services with Baidu Map’s navigation capabilities, supporting Intelligent Speed Assistance (ISA) and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) for automakers worldwide. This collaboration will enhance the precision of navigation with lane-level accuracy, increasing driver confidence on the road.
In 2026, HERE will provide high-quality global map content and Connected Vehicle Service APIs, enabling seamless map ingestion and precise positioning. Baidu Maps will focus on developing a global navigation engine with advanced lane-level navigation, facilitating a unified global navigation experience for both domestic and international markets.
Features of the New Solution
Predictive signal timing is a feature designed to improve road safety and driver awareness. HERE will supply robust global probe data and cloud-based API services, while Baidu Maps will contribute its advanced big-data mining algorithms and expertise in mass-production deployments of traffic signal intelligence. This feature will help drivers anticipate red lights, resulting in more composed stops and reduced abrupt maneuvers, minimizing the risk of red-light running.
The integrated ADAS and ISA solution will incorporate HERE’s lane-level features and map data, providing machine-readable inputs for advanced driving functions. These solutions aim to support safer driving practices and enhance the overall driving experience.
HERE and Baidu Maps collaborate as part of a broader ecosystem of leading Chinese technology partners and innovators. This global solution leverages the strengths of both organisations to enhance driver awareness and road safety. The solutions are expected to roll out in phases, beginning with pilot programmes for automakers and eventually integrating into future digital-cockpit platforms. Automakers will benefit from a single navigation framework that scales globally, offering harmonized map ingestion and full-coverage true lane-level capabilities.
With the collaboration, HERE and Baidu Maps aim to reshape the future of vehicle navigation by providing a comprehensive solution for connected and automated vehicles. This effort reflects their commitment to advancing intelligent vehicle navigation and supporting the automotive industry’s evolving needs.
