Hotel Nacional expands gluten-free menu with new Mexican-inspired dishes
Melbourne rooftop venue Hotel Nacional has introduced a refreshed menu focused entirely on gluten-free dishes, adding a series of new plates alongside existing favourites.
The venue is known for its Mexican-inspired food offerings and operates as a fully gluten-free dining destination. In addition, the menu update introduces several new savoury and dessert options designed to expand the existing selection while maintaining the venue’s established flavour profile.
Several new savoury dishes now appear on the menu. These include sun-dried tomato potato croquettes served with jalapeño mayo. The croquettes are listed as a vegetarian option.

The kitchen has also introduced spiced beef empanadas paired with onion and salsa verde. Meanwhile, a barbacoa mushroom taco appears among the new additions. The dish is served with salsa verde and crispy shallots and is also listed as vegetarian.
Seafood options are also included in the updated lineup. A prawn tostada has been added to the menu and features chives, cucumber, lime mayo and flying fish roe.
According to the venue’s information, the new dishes sit alongside the restaurant’s existing menu items rather than replacing them. As a result, the updated menu combines established favourites with recently developed recipes.
The venue operates from a rooftop setting and is positioned as a dedicated gluten-free dining environment. Consequently, the entire food offering is designed to meet gluten-free dietary requirements.

New desserts added to the gluten-free menu
In addition to savoury items, the venue has introduced new desserts as part of the menu expansion.
The most notable addition is gluten-free churros served with cinnamon and chocolate sauce. The dessert is listed as vegetarian and represents a new sweet option within the venue’s menu range.
Dessert offerings are typically limited within gluten-free dining environments. Therefore, the introduction of churros provides an additional option for guests seeking traditional dessert formats prepared without gluten ingredients.

The updated dessert selection forms part of a broader refresh across the kitchen’s menu. The changes aim to expand the variety of dishes available while maintaining the venue’s existing focus on Mexican-inspired flavours.
Hotel Nacional’s kitchen has retained its existing menu structure while introducing additional items. As a result, returning guests will still find familiar dishes available alongside the new offerings.
The venue’s rooftop location remains a key part of the dining experience. From the rooftop setting, guests can access views across the Melbourne city skyline while dining.
The refreshed menu reflects an ongoing focus on gluten-free dining within Melbourne’s hospitality sector. As more venues introduce specialised dietary offerings, fully gluten-free menus continue to appear across the city.
Hotel Nacional’s updated menu expands its range of savoury and dessert dishes while maintaining its commitment to gluten-free preparation across the entire kitchen.
