MEU representatives will speak in Branxton on 17th July

HVO hearing activity begins in Branxton at 1pm on Friday, 17th July, when the Mining and Energy Union addresses media outside Branxton Community Hall.

That briefing point is listed at 35 Bowen Street, Branxton, ahead of the Independent Planning Commission public hearing into the Hunter Valley Operations Continuation Project.

Robin Williams will speak at the media appearance. He is President of the Mining and Energy Union Northern Mining & NSW Energy District.

Rebecca McDonald is also scheduled to appear on 17th July. She works at Hunter Valley Operations and serves as MEU Lodge President.

According to the union notice, both speakers will discuss why the project matters for workers, the Hunter economy and the region’s future.

Union representatives plan to back approval of the HVO Continuation Project when they appear before the commission.

Their case will focus on jobs linked to the operation, benefits for local communities, and a well-managed transition for the Hunter.

After the 1pm media stop, Williams and McDonald are due to appear at the public hearing into the project.

MEU identified three core themes in its advisory: employment, community benefits and transition planning in the Hunter.
