Innovative Subsurface Intelligence Platform Arrives

Ideon Technologies, a Canadian leader in subsurface intelligence, has officially launched its operations in Chile as of 27th April 2026. The move aims to enhance mining safety and productivity in one of the world's largest copper-producing regions.

The launch was announced during the World Copper Conference in Santiago, where Ideon Technologies introduced its REVEAL™ Subsurface Intelligence Platform. This platform is designed to address complex subsurface decision-making challenges in the mining industry more efficiently.

Gary Agnew, Co-Founder and CEO of Ideon Technologies, stated, "We build solutions that unlock faster, better decisions for our customers to be able to compress resource development times, improve recovery, and provide safer working environments."

Strategic Partnerships and Leadership

Ideon Technologies has partnered with major industry players such as Rio Tinto, Freeport McMoRan, BHP, Glencore, and Vale Base Metals. These partnerships focus on exploration, resource characterization, geotechnical engineering, and other key mining processes.

To spearhead its expansion in Latin America, Ideon appointed Manfredo Manfredi as the Business Development Director. With over 25 years of experience in mining technology, Manfredi will lead the company's strategic initiatives from Santiago.

Manfredi emphasised the importance of integrating advanced technology in the region, stating, "It is critical that Chile leverage that investment to accelerate adoption of cutting-edge technology solutions."

The Ideon REVEAL™ Platform uses cosmic-ray muon tomography to create high-resolution 3D and 4D models of subsurface geology, offering applications for caving, leaching, resource management, geotechnical analysis, and exploration.

Chile's mining sector accounts for a significant portion of global copper reserves and output, with local mining investments projected to exceed USD 104 billion by 2034. Ideon's technology aims to support this growth by enhancing operational safety and efficiency.

Chile is a global leader in copper production, accounting for approximately 21% of the world's reserves and 24% of its output. This dominant position makes the country pivotal for the mining technology sector.

Manfredi, who has previously worked with companies such as LithologIQ, Envirosuite, Joy Global (Komatsu), Groundprobe, and Modular Mining Systems, is well-equipped to lead Ideon's expansion strategy in Chile and throughout Latin America.

As the world’s largest copper producer, Chile plays a crucial role in adopting technologies that can enhance decision-making in mining. The Ideon REVEAL™ Platform aims to meet these needs by providing cutting-edge solutions to the mining industry.
