Deal Completion Set for 1st May
Inspirit Capital is set to acquire Kaplan Languages Group (KLG), a prominent global language education platform, with the transaction expected to finalise on 1st May. All conditions for the sale have been met, ensuring a smooth transition.
Key Components of KLG Acquisition
KLG includes Kaplan International Languages, Alpadia Language Schools, Azurlingua, and ESL Education. Since 2006, it has provided top-tier language education, focusing on academic excellence and cultural immersion. KLG supports students in achieving their language goals through rigorous academics and immersive experiences.
Inspirit Capital, a specialist investor in corporate carve-outs, will support KLG in delivering on its ambitious growth plans. This acquisition enables KLG to pursue growth strategies while maintaining its mission to transform lives through language education.
The next phase of ownership will also see the development of a refreshed standalone brand identity for KLG, with further announcements to follow. Paul Youens, Investment Director at Inspirit Capital, stated, “KLG has built a strong portfolio of trusted brands over more than 20 years.”
Students, families, and agents can expect continuity and consistency with the same high-quality schools, experienced teams, and strong standards of education, safety, and student care. Inspirit Capital focuses on giving the business the support and independence it needs to build on that foundation.
David Jones, CEO of Kaplan International, expressed confidence in the management team’s ability to continue KLG’s tradition of academic excellence and pastoral care. He remarked, “For decades, our schools have been welcoming students from all corners of the world.”
KLG operates more than 20 language schools across eight countries, offering programmes in English, French, and German. ESL Education, the language travel agency, partners with over 200 destinations worldwide, providing opportunities for learning 17 languages.
KLG’s students range in age from juniors to mature learners over 50, coming from 140 countries. This diversity enhances the learning environment, providing rich cultural exchanges among students.
Kaplan, Inc., the parent company, is a global education company founded in 1938 by Stanley Kaplan. It helps individuals and institutions advance their goals in an ever-changing world with a broad portfolio of solutions.
The acquisition by Inspirit Capital, a London-based firm specializing in corporate carve-outs, signifies a strategic shift for KLG, which will soon operate under a new brand identity. This change aims to enhance its global presence and continue its mission of transforming lives through language education.
