Ciesla and de Vega to Lead Technology Initiatives
IQM Quantum Computers has appointed Dr Craig Ciesla as its Chief Technology Officer and Dr Inés de Vega as Chief Scientist, effective immediately. These key appointments come as IQM prepares for its Nasdaq listing through a merger with Real Asset Acquisition Corp.
Dr Ciesla, who brings over 25 years of experience in deep tech, previously held leadership roles at various companies including Illumina and 10x Genomics. He will be responsible for advancing IQM's technology strategy and implementing it into systems and products.
CEO and Co-founder of IQM, Jan Goetz, expressed confidence in Ciesla's ability to integrate hardware and software systems at scale, stating, "Ciesla's track record of scaling complex instrumentation platforms and building world-class R&D organisations makes him an exceptional addition to our leadership team."
De Vega's Role in Scientific Leadership
Dr Inés de Vega, transitioning from her role as Vice President of Quantum Solutions, will ensure scientific feasibility and system-level consistency across IQM's technology. With more than 20 years of experience, her career spans fundamental research and industrial applications in quantum technologies.
De Vega has been a part of renowned academic institutions, including the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics and Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. She remarked on her new position, saying, "Over the past years, I have seen first-hand how IQM has evolved… I look forward to further contributing to the company's growth trajectory."
IQM, a leader in superconducting quantum computers, has sold 23 quantum computers to date. The company plans to expand its operations as a vertically integrated quantum computing firm, operating its own chip factory and assembly line.
The planned Nasdaq listing, through a merger with Real Asset Acquisition Corp., is progressing with an upsized PIPE of $146 million secured in early June. This transaction marks IQM's next step in becoming the first publicly listed European quantum company on the Nasdaq Global Exchange.
