AI Agents Transform Workflow Automation
Laserfiche has launched new AI Agents designed to revolutionise content management by automating complex workflows using natural language. Announced at the Laserfiche Empower conference in Las Vegas on 28th April 2026, these agents will be available to all users of Laserfiche Cloud starting 7th May 2026.
The AI Agents employ advanced generative AI models to automate tasks that traditionally required extensive manual effort. They execute complex multi-step workflows and make bulk changes based on user instructions, all while adhering to Laserfiche’s strict security and compliance protocols.
“The introduction of AI Agents to content management signals a shift in how we handle the information lifecycle,” stated Karl Chan, CEO of Laserfiche. He emphasised moving beyond manual processes by offloading mundane work to Agents that operate within a governance framework.
Capabilities Across Multiple Sectors
Accessible through Smart Chat, an AI-powered interface within the Laserfiche repository, these AI Agents inherit user permissions and access restrictions to maintain security. They enable users across various sectors, including legal, human resources, and accounts payable, to automate repetitive tasks such as identifying inconsistencies in contracts, managing personnel records, and routing overdue invoices.
In the legal sector, AI Agents can surface inconsistencies in contracts and route them for review. Human resources departments can use them to identify demographic information in records and adjust security settings. Accounts payable teams benefit by having overdue invoices routed for prompt follow-up and resolution.
Governments can accelerate public records requests by flagging documents requiring exemption reviews. Educational institutions can apply security tags to protect personal information. Financial services can support data handling policies through intelligent document analysis.
Justin Pava, Laserfiche’s chief product evangelist, highlighted future capabilities, stating, “With automatically-extracted metadata, AI-assisted search, and Agents, you won’t have to spend time organizing data; you will be able to simply act on it.”
Subsequent updates will enable the Agents to run repeated processes on-demand, embed within business processes, and monitor systems for specified conditions, completing tasks in the background.
To celebrate the launch, attendees of the Empower conference who use Laserfiche Cloud have exclusive access to these AI Agents. This initiative modernises operations while ensuring compliance remains a priority.
