LEPAS targets Australia and other regions in Q3 2026
LEPAS launched two new energy vehicles in Southeast Asia in late July 2026. On 24th July 2026, the LEPAS L6 EV went on sale in Thailand, and on 26th July 2026, the LEPAS L8 PHEV followed in Indonesia.
These launches are part of a wider push by LEPAS, Chery Auto’s mid-to-premium NEV brand. During the third quarter of 2026, four models are due to enter markets across Europe, Southeast Asia, Australia, Africa and the Middle East.
That line-up includes the LEPAS L8 PHEV, LEPAS L6 EV, LEPAS L6 PHEV and LEPAS L4 EV. Chery described the L6 EV as an all-electric SUV designed for intelligent urban living.
At the same time, Chery Auto reported a broader corporate milestone. On 27th July 2026, Chery Automobile Co., Ltd. Said its cumulative global sales had surpassed 20 million units.
Chery ranks 87th in Fortune China 500
Chery Automobile Co., Ltd., which trades under stock code 9973.HK, also made its first appearance in the 2026 Fortune China 500 as a publicly listed company. It ranked 87th on that list.
In the same update, Chery ranked No. 1 among automakers in return on equity. That result reflected strong global operations and profitability under its “From China to the World” approach.
Meanwhile, Kantar BrandZ included Chery in its Top 50 Chinese Global Brand Builders for the ninth consecutive year. In 2026, Chery also ranked No. 1 in the automotive category.
Those results give more context to the LEPAS rollout. LEPAS is expanding as its parent company adds sales volume, brand reach and profitability.
Thailand and Indonesia rollout
Thailand received the LEPAS L6 EV first on 24th July 2026. Indonesia then launched the LEPAS L8 PHEV on 26th July 2026.
Chery said the coordinated rollout of three NEV models across global markets marks another milestone in LEPAS’s international expansion. The company linked that pace to operational capability and a long-term plan for a sustainable global presence.
Following the Southeast Asia launches, LEPAS plans to keep expanding through the third quarter of 2026. Europe, Australia, Africa, the Middle East and more Southeast Asian markets are included in the next stage.
Localised R&D and after-sales
As its NEV range grows, LEPAS plans to use Chery Group’s wider global ecosystem. That network spans vehicle manufacturing, core components, embodied AI robotics, modern services and intelligent technologies.
Because of that footprint, LEPAS plans to localise research and development, manufacturing, sales networks and after-sales services in more markets. Chery’s stated aim is to support expansion with local operations, not exports alone.
Chery also said LEPAS combines elegant design, intelligent innovation and dependable quality. The brand is positioning those features for customers in different regions.
For Chery Group, the 20 million sales mark is both a company milestone and a marker for LEPAS’s global push. LEPAS has set a goal of becoming the preferred brand for elegant mobility life.
Its expansion plan follows Chery Group’s development philosophy of “In somewhere, For somewhere, Be somewhere”. In practice, Chery says that means deeper localisation as LEPAS enters more markets during 2026.
As a result, the July launches in Thailand and Indonesia serve two purposes. They open sales for the L6 EV and L8 PHEV, and they also act as early steps in a broader rollout across five regions in the third quarter of 2026.
