New Fiber Enhances Safety and Comfort in PPE
The LYCRA Company has introduced its new ANTISTATIC fibre at the Techtextil trade fair in Frankfurt, Germany, from April 21 to 24, 2026. This innovation targets improved comfort and safety in workwear and personal protective equipment (PPE). The fibre is designed to meet the growing demand for workwear and PPE that combine stretch comfort and anti-static performance. Engineered with proprietary additives integrated directly into the fibre structure, it ensures effective static charge dissipation. This makes it suitable for various industrial settings, including petrochemicals, electronics, pharmaceuticals, medicine, and aerospace.
During the event, Marc Souto, West & South Europe area sales manager at The LYCRA Company, stated, “By combining anti-static functionality with the comfort, fit and freedom of movement provided by LYCRA fiber, we help enable garments that workers are more willing to wear day after day.” LYCRA ANTISTATIC fibre supports qualification to recognised anti-static standards such as EN 1149 and IEC 61340 when incorporated into suitable textile systems. It is designed as a drop-in solution for knit fabrics, allowing manufacturers to maintain their existing processes without alterations.
The fibre is available in various decitex options to accommodate different garment types, including base layers, tops, bottoms, overalls, jackets, and vests. This flexibility aims to meet the diverse needs of industrial clothing and ensure compliance with industry standards. Static electricity can pose serious challenges across a wide range of industrial environments, including electrostatic discharge risks and wearer discomfort. Anti-static garments help dissipate static charge, reducing the likelihood of discharge and supporting compliance with industry standards.
During Techtextil, The LYCRA Company will also showcase other fibers from its FIBERS THAT WORK portfolio. These include LYCRA T400 fiber, which withstands industrial laundering and provides durable stretch and recovery for the garment’s lifespan, COOLMAX EcoMade fibre made from 100 per cent recycled polyester to keep workers cool and dry, and THERMOLITE fibers and insulation offering thermal comfort.
The LYCRA Company continues to innovate in the fibre and technology sectors, providing solutions for the apparel industry that enhance comfort and performance. For more details, attendees can visit their stand at Hall 9.0, stand B70 at Techtextil.
