A New Era of Stretch Denim Innovation

The LYCRA Company has introduced its innovative LYCRA VintageFX fibre at the Kingpins Amsterdam event, held on April 15 and 16. Offering a blend of vintage denim aesthetics with modern stretch and comfort, this next-generation fibre caters to the evolving demands of consumers.

Specifically designed for denim and woven fabrics, LYCRA VintageFX fibre allows brands to create heritage-inspired looks without compromising on comfort or durability. The launch addresses the industry’s shift towards looser fits, such as wide-leg and mom jeans, ensuring stability in key areas like the waist, hips, and crotch.

Ebru Ozaydin, product category director for denim and ready-to-wear at The LYCRA Company, expressed enthusiasm about the official introduction to the global denim community, following a preview at Kingpins Amsterdam last year.

Technical Benefits of LYCRA Fiber

Featuring a dual-core yarn construction, LYCRA VintageFX fibre offers low growth and high recovery, even after industrial washing processes. Its compact fabric construction provides superior drape and reduces bulk, retaining a soft and gentle feel on the skin.

Additional technical benefits include reduced seam slippage for improved garment quality and extended wear life. The fibre supports modern comfort stretch denim, balancing vintage aesthetics with contemporary lifestyle needs.

Arnaud Ruffin, vice president for brands and retail at The LYCRA Company, highlighted the fiber’s ability to enable brands and retailers to deliver strong consumer value propositions, filling a critical market gap while enhancing collections.

During the Kingpins Amsterdam event, visitors can explore sample fabrics and garments featuring the new LYCRA VintageFX fibre at stand B10 in the SugarFactory, Amsterdam. The event offers industry professionals an opportunity to engage with The LYCRA Company’s latest advancements.

LYCRA VintageFX fibre sets a new performance benchmark, enabling brands and mills to recreate rigid, heritage-inspired looks without sacrificing recovery, durability, or wearer comfort. This innovation aligns with the industry’s shift away from body-hugging silhouettes.

Engineered with a proprietary and patent-pending fabric application, LYCRA VintageFX fibre works in tandem with LYCRA fibre in a dual-core structure. This fibre shrinks under heat during finishing, controlling elastic extension, protecting the fibre core, and enhancing shape retention to reduce bagging and sagging.

Apparel made with this fibre also qualifies for LYCRA XTRA LIFE fibre branding at the point of sale, reinforcing garment durability. This feature adds value for brands and retailers, helping them meet consumer demand for durable and stylish denim.
