Tasmania’s MAIB Embarks on Claims System Revamp
On 6 April 2026, MAIB of Tasmania announced its partnership with FINEOS Corporation, selecting the company to overhaul its claims management system. Established under the Motor Accidents (Liabilities and Compensation) Act 1973, MAIB provides compulsory third-party personal injury insurance to Tasmanian motorists. This government enterprise offers support to those affected by motor accidents, ensuring they receive necessary compensation and services, regardless of fault.
Challenges with technology obsolescence and data security prompted MAIB to revamp its legacy Motor Accidents Claims System (MACS). The outdated system hindered MAIB’s ability to achieve strategic goals centered on client outcomes and improvement. CEO of FINEOS, Michael Kelly, emphasised, “MAIB plays a vital role in supporting Tasmanians impacted by motor accidents. By modernizing their claims platform, MAIB is positioning itself to enhance client outcomes, strengthen data security, and improve operational agility.”
FINEOS was chosen after a detailed evaluation process due to its alignment with MAIB’s requirements and its robust, off-the-shelf claims management solution. This selection ensures that MAIB’s strategic goals, such as enhancing administrative efficiency and improving client services, will be met. the FINEOS platform will bolster data analytics, cybersecurity, and reporting capabilities.

Transitioning to the FINEOS platform is expected to deliver several advantages to MAIB.
