Monty Python’s Spamalot will begin previews at Melbourne’s Athenaeum Theatre on 16th September, with Stephen Curry making his musical theatre debut as King Arthur.
The official opening follows on Saturday 19th September. The season has been extended until 11th October, with organisers citing strong ticket sales and demand.
Jaz Flowers will play the Lady of the Lake for the Melbourne season, returning to the stage after a decade.
Producer and director Drew Anthony said, “Following our sold-out, critically acclaimed Perth season, it is my absolute pleasure to be bringing this gem-of-a-show to Melbourne and Sydney.”
The musical features a book and lyrics by Eric Idle, with a score by Idle and John Du Prez. Its musical-theatre parody includes tap-dancing knights.
Spamalot won three Tony Awards after its 2005 Broadway debut, including Best Musical.
Anthony said, “Not only is Spamalot a celebration of all things Monty Python, it is also a wonderful love letter to the musical theatre genre.”
Who Is In The Melbourne Cast?
Jamie Rolton reprises the role of Patsy opposite Curry’s King Arthur, while stand-up comedian Nick White takes on Man of Many Characters.
NIDA graduate Gareth Isaac plays Sir Robin, with WAAPA graduate Jesse Vasiliadas appearing as Sir Lancelot. Both join a cast that includes Perth season performers Noah Skape as Sir Galahad and Ethan Jones as Sir Bedevere.
The ensemble comprises Grace Williams, Emily Huynh, Danielle Gibson, Jacinta Tsakalos, Will Basson, Jack Coyne, Dominique Hamilton and Ethan Churchill.
Following Melbourne, the production will play at the Sydney Event Centre at The Star Sydney from 15th to 18th October 2026.
Western Sydney’s Coliseum Theatre will then host performances from 22nd to 25th October 2026.
