Moondrop Cocktail Bar Hosts Mel Hack For Debut Guest Shift

Moondrop Cocktail Bar Welcomes Mel Hack for First Guest Shift on 17th January

A newly opened Chinese-inspired craft cocktail bar, Moondrop, will host its first guest shift on Saturday, 17th January, from 5pm to 10pm. The event will feature internationally recognised whisky specialist and mixologist Mel Hack, who is visiting Melbourne for a limited engagement.

Hack currently works at Macaloney’s Distillery, Canada’s most awarded craft distillery. Their role spans whisky production, education, and cocktail development. Alongside distilling work, Hack maintains a strong focus on sustainability within hospitality.

Hack also holds industry recognition for advocacy supporting women, neurodiverse professionals, and LGBTQI+ communities. This work forms part of their broader professional contribution to the international drinks sector.

Originally from Melbourne, Hack has built an international career across leading whisky venues and distilleries. They previously served as creative cocktail lead at Whisky & Alement, which received the World’s Best Whisky Bar title in 2023. Hack also worked in whisky production and education roles at Shelter Point Distillery, a respected grain-to-glass producer.

Guest shift collaboration and cocktail offering

For the one-night event, Hack will collaborate with Moondrop bartender Jesse Kourmouzis. Together, they will present a limited menu of four cocktails created exclusively for the guest shift. The drinks combine Canadian whisky influences with Asian flavour profiles.

Moondrop cocktail bar will continue serving its full cocktail menu throughout the evening. Guests will be able to order both the venue’s regular offerings and the limited-edition guest shift drinks.

No bookings are required for the event. Entry will operate on a walk-in basis for the duration of the guest shift.
