Satellite Connectivity and eSIM Advancements

Motive is transforming mobile innovation in Latin America by introducing satellite connectivity and advanced eSIM solutions. This was announced at the M360 LATAM event in Mexico City on June 1st.

Expanding Connectivity and Security

The company unveiled its Entitlement Server, known as Motive ES, which significantly enhances digital services across the region. This includes satellite direct-to-device connectivity for remote areas and secure SIM-based authentication methods.

Entel Chile became the first operator in Latin America to deliver commercial mobile services via Low-Earth Orbit satellites. This service reached over 450,000 users in remote areas like Patagonia, where traditional infrastructure was absent.

Vivo Brazil, the country’s largest operator with 117.4 million subscribers, implemented SIM-Based Silent Authentication. This replaces SMS OTP with cryptographic SIM verification, improving security.

Claro Brazil launched iOS eSIM Quick Transfer, leading to a 63% increase in eSIM downloads year-over-year, with a 15% month-on-month growth in adoption. The company plans to expand this service to Android devices soon.

Motive’s Entitlement Server serves as a pivotal component for these advancements, enabling streamlined eSIM provisioning and new revenue opportunities tied to digital services and secure identity.

Jay McMullan, VP Sales, Americas at Motive, highlighted the importance of these developments, stating, “Claro, Vivo, and Entel aren’t running pilots. They’re in production, generating results, and already expanding.”

These innovations align with GSMA standards and are certified to meet Apple and Google ecosystem requirements. Motive is positioned as a key player in driving digital transformation for telecom operators globally.

Motive’s technology is deployed across numerous operators worldwide, supporting initiatives ranging from enhancing remote connectivity to providing fraud-free authentication in countries like Brazil. The company’s involvement in the region underscores its commitment to addressing connectivity and security challenges unique to Latin America.
