Deal Strengthens Danish-Australian Tech Collaboration
MELBOURNE — Danish technology firm NanoNord has secured a significant equipment order with Australian company ElectraLith during a Danish state visit to Australia. The agreement, valued between 160,000 and 240,000 AUD, was made as part of the royal couple’s visit to Melbourne, highlighting the increasing role of Danish technology in global green initiatives.
The deal involves NanoNord’s Tveskaeg technology, a magnetic resonance-based instrument used for precise lithium measurement, which will be integrated into ElectraLith’s Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) systems. This collaboration aims to enhance sustainable lithium extraction, crucial for battery production. Martin Mindorf, Chief Commercial Officer of NanoNord, expressed satisfaction with the partnership, stating the order underscores the importance of their technology in ElectraLith’s operations.
Details of the Partnership
Charlie McGill, CEO of ElectraLith, noted the reliability of NanoNord’s equipment, which is already a core component of their DLE-R technology. The collaboration is expected to potentially reach up to DKK 10 million as the companies aim to expand their technologies globally. McGill praised the performance of their existing systems, highlighting the successful integration and the importance of the additional units for future deployments.
This development comes amid a surge in demand for sustainable lithium extraction methods, driven by the growing need for battery components in the renewable energy sector. According to a statement from NanoNord, the Danish company continues to explore opportunities in Australia and beyond, leveraging the momentum from the royal visit to expand its market presence.
The partnership is seen as a stepping stone for both companies to collaborate on future projects aimed at improving the efficiency and sustainability of lithium extraction processes. As global demand for lithium continues to rise, the need for innovative solutions becomes more pressing. The successful integration of NanoNord’s technology into ElectraLith’s systems marks a significant advancement in the field, paving the way for further innovations and collaborations in the renewable energy sector.
