Stakeholders to Present Testimonies
On Wednesday, 8 April 2026, the Joint Standing Committee on Implementation of the National Redress Scheme will conduct a significant public hearing in Canberra. This event forms part of the Committee’s ongoing inquiry into the operation of the Scheme, which aims to address issues related to its effective, safe, and equitable management.
Ms Jodie Belyea MP, the Committee Chair, has expressed gratitude for the substantial number of submissions received so far. She stated, “The Committee has received a substantial number of submissions in support of our current inquiry and heard evidence from a range of stakeholders.”
The hearing will feature testimonies from Redress Support Services, lived experience advisers, and various participating institutions. These sessions are crucial as they offer insights into the perspectives of different stakeholders involved with the Scheme.
Public Hearing Details: The hearing is scheduled to take place from 9:15 am to 4:00 pm AEST in Committee Room 1R3 at Parliament House, Canberra. It will also be accessible via videoconference for those unable to attend in person.
The Committee invites the public to view the proceedings, which will be broadcast live on the Australian Parliament House Streaming Portal. This transparency allows for greater public engagement and understanding of the Scheme’s operational challenges.
As the Scheme approaches its final operational stage, the Committee remains committed to hearing from a wide range of stakeholders and individuals. This ongoing process ensures that all voices are considered in shaping the future of the National Redress Scheme.
The Committee will continue to gather detailed evidence from various sectors to ensure comprehensive coverage of the issues. This includes examining the effectiveness of support services and the experiences of those directly affected by the Scheme.
