Acquisition adds 76 units in Melbourne's south-east
Mecwacare has acquired Evergreen Retirement Village Pakenham, expanding its retirement living and aged care network in Melbourne’s south-eastern growth corridor.
The site now operates as mecwacare Evergreen Retirement Village Pakenham. It is the not-for-profit provider’s eighth retirement village.
The village has 76 independent living units and 92 residents. That group includes 18 couples.
Residents will continue to live independently. As their needs change, they will gain access to a broader range of services and support through mecwacare.
Chief executive Anne McCormack said the acquisition strengthens mecwacare’s ability to connect retirement living, care and health services through one provider.
“We’re creating communities of care where people can maintain their independence,” McCormack said.
Mecwacare already has an established presence in Pakenham through home care services and social support groups at Rivendell House.
Those Rivendell House groups serve people aged over 65. Programs include strength training, social activities and outings.
The organisation also runs activities for NDIS participants in Pakenham. That existing service network means mecwacare was already supporting local residents before the acquisition.
Pakenham site becomes eighth retirement village
According to mecwacare, the purchase expands its integrated model of care and support for older Victorians in one of Melbourne’s significant south-eastern growth areas.
McCormack said, “Welcoming Evergreen Retirement Village into the mecwacare family strengthens our ability to provide a seamless experience across our retirement living, care and health services through one trusted provider.”
The organisation stated that residents will keep an independent lifestyle while having access to more support as their needs evolve over time.
Mecwacare provides aged care, retirement living, home care and community services. Each week, employees and volunteers support more than 20,000 people across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.
The organisation did not disclose the purchase price or the completion date for the acquisition.
