Oxfam Highlights Increased Violence

Oxfam reports that more Palestinians have been killed by Israeli military and settlers in the occupied West Bank in the past three years than in the previous 17 years combined.

According to an analysis of United Nations data, 1,244 Palestinians, including 268 children, were killed from 2023 to 2025. This surpasses the 1,036 Palestinians killed between 2006 and 2022.

The report highlights that more than one in five Palestinians killed over the last 20 years were children, amounting to 493 out of 2,280 casualties.

Impact on West Bank Communities

The West Bank has been subjected to policies of annexation and displacement, with nearly 46,000 Palestinians forcibly displaced in the last three years alone, compared to 13,000 in the preceding 14 years.

Bushra Khalidi, Oxfam International Humanitarian Policy Lead, stated, "The mounting killing of civilians in the West Bank is tragic and horrifying. While the eyes of the world have been on Gaza, attacks in the West Bank have been accelerating."

Israeli settlers' violence and military operations have led to mass displacement, demolitions, and restricted access to essential services and resources in the region. There are now 925 obstacles restricting movement across the West Bank.

In the first quarter of 2026 alone, over 540 settler attacks resulted in 33 Palestinian deaths and more than 2,200 displacements.

Despite these challenges, Oxfam continues to support affected communities with humanitarian aid, including clean water, food, and the rehabilitation of infrastructure.

Between 2006 and 2022, 86 Israeli settlers, including 12 children, were killed by Palestinians. In contrast, from 2023 to the end of 2025, 43 settlers have been killed, with ten being children.

The ongoing military operations and state-backed settler violence are driving mass displacement in the West Bank. Checkpoints and closures fragment the territory, limiting access to essential services and livelihoods.

A record number of Palestinians, nearly 46,000, have been forcibly displaced over the last three years due to military operations, settler violence, demolitions, and access restrictions.

Saed, a 50-year-old from the Ein Samya community, was forced out of his home. He described the challenges faced by those displaced, often living in unstable conditions with limited access to services.
