Exploring Solutions with Human Rights
An upcoming seminar titled ‘The Answer Is Human Rights’ will take place in Perth on 11th June. The event will focus on how human rights can address critical social issues affecting Australia today. Attendees can join the seminar at the WA State Library Lecture Theatre from 5:30pm to 7pm.
This seminar is organized by the Australian Human Rights Commission in partnership with the Equal Opportunity Commission of Western Australia. It is part of the AHRC’s national programme celebrating its 40th anniversary. Topics such as social cohesion, housing affordability, economic inequality, and the impacts of climate change and digital technologies will be discussed. These discussions aim to highlight how human rights can offer solutions to these challenges.
According to AHRC President Hugh de Kretser, “For most of us, most of the time, Australia is a great place to live. But despite our nation’s wealth, many people are struggling. It’s in everyone’s interest to protect human rights. Protecting human rights promotes equality, safety, dignity, and prosperity for all people in Australia.”

The seminar will feature a panel discussion with prominent figures such as Dr Hannah McGlade from Curtin University’s School of Law, WA Equal Opportunity Commissioner Dr John Byrne, National Children’s Commissioner Deb Tsorbaris, and AHRC President Hugh de Kretser.
