Prairie Lithium’s DLE unit arrives in Saskatchewan

North America's largest commercial DLE system delivered

Prairie Lithium has delivered North America’s largest commercial Direct Lithium Extraction unit to its Saskatchewan project, moving the ASX-listed company closer to Phase 1 lithium production.

On 10 July 2026, the company confirmed installation and commissioning remain targeted for the fourth quarter of 2026.

The system is a four-column commercial-scale DLE unit and will serve as the main processing equipment for Phase 1.

According to Prairie Lithium, the new unit is about four times larger than the commercial system operating at Standard Lithium’s Arkansas project.

That comparison highlights the size of Prairie Lithium’s first Saskatchewan development, although production cannot start until installation and commissioning finish in Q4 2026.

Before the equipment arrived, the Saskatchewan site already had production wells, disposal wells, a power transformer and electrical systems in place.

As a result, the project now holds its principal processing equipment alongside the supporting infrastructure needed for the first commercial phase.

Direct Lithium Extraction, or DLE, recovers lithium directly from brine with purpose-built processing equipment. Prairie Lithium uses that method as the centre of its phased development model in Saskatchewan.

Paul Lloyd on Phase 1

Prairie Lithium has secured all regulatory approvals for the project and a binding offtake agreement with Hydro Lithium covering 100% of Phase 1 production.

Because Hydro Lithium will take all Phase 1 output, Prairie Lithium has a defined path from commissioning to its first revenue.

For investors, the 10 July 2026 delivery reduces a key execution risk because the commercial-scale DLE equipment is now on site ahead of installation.

Executive Chairman Paul Lloyd called the delivery “another defining milestone” as Prairie Lithium advances toward becoming one of North America’s newest commercial lithium producers.

He also pointed to the past 18 months of work on site preparation, infrastructure, approvals and the Hydro Lithium offtake.

Prairie Lithium announced the milestone from Perth, Western Australia, on 10 July 2026, while the project itself is in Saskatchewan, Canada.

Next, the company will install the four-column unit, connect it to existing wells and power systems, and commission the plant in Q4 2026.
