Leadership Transition at $100 Billion Fund

Robbie Campo has been appointed as the new CEO of HESTA, a $100 billion industry fund based in Australia, effective August 2026. She will succeed Debby Blakey, ensuring a smooth leadership transition.

HESTA Chair Nicola Roxon announced the appointment, highlighting Campo's extensive 26-year experience in the superannuation sector as a key factor in her selection. Campo is currently the CEO of ESSSuper and has held significant roles at CBUS and Industry Super Australia.

"Robbie brings extensive experience across executive and CEO roles, leading organisations, big and small, through complex regulatory, operational and investment environments to deliver better outcomes for members," said Nicola Roxon, HESTA Chair.

Campo's Career and Vision

Campo's career has been marked by leadership positions, including her role as Chair of Women in Super and non-executive director roles at Victoria Legal Aid. She holds a Bachelor of Law with Honours and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment.

Expressing her enthusiasm for the new role, Campo stated, "I am thrilled to be appointed as HESTA’s CEO, a role which will allow me to continue my passion for improving the economic security of Australians and, in particular, improving retirement outcomes for women."

Campo's appointment follows a comprehensive search process and is subject to standard regulatory approvals. She will start in August, following the departure of current CEO Debby Blakey, who supports the board's decision and anticipates a successful transition.

Nicola Roxon emphasised the importance of Campo's leadership as HESTA grows beyond more than one million members and $100 billion in assets. "Robbie’s skills will position her well to lead the Fund as it enters an exciting new chapter," she noted.

Throughout her career, Campo has focused on improving the financial futures of working people, particularly women. She aims to amplify the positive impact HESTA has for generations of its members, who primarily work in health and community services.

Campo's previous leadership roles include being the Group Executive of Brand, Engagement, Advocacy and Product at CBUS and Deputy Chief Executive of Industry Super Australia. These roles have equipped her with the skills necessary for her new position at HESTA.

HESTA's board expressed confidence in Campo's ability to lead the fund, given her track record in the superannuation sector and her commitment to advocacy and global leadership in responsible investment.
