Thales Partners with SAP for ERP Transformation

In a major development, SAP and S3NS have joined forces to propel the adoption of trusted cloud solutions in France, with Thales emerging as their inaugural strategic customer. Announced on 27th April 2026, this initiative marks a pivotal advancement in bolstering digital sovereignty throughout Europe.

Thales is set to integrate the SAP RISE private cloud edition on S3NS infrastructure. This strategic move aims to revolutionise Thales' Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems by prioritizing data sovereignty and compliance in line with French and European regulations.

Thomas Saueressig, Chief Customer Officer and Member of the Executive Board of SAP SE, emphasised, "This partnership represents a major step forward for our customers in France and sends a strong signal across Europe. Customers can combine SAP’s innovation and scalability within an environment that meets the highest regulatory requirements, enabling transformation without compromise."

Expanding Trusted Cloud Solutions

The collaboration utilises S3NS's SecNumCloud-qualified platform, known as PREMI3NS, specifically engineered to cater to the demands of highly regulated sectors such as public administration, aerospace, and defence. By the second half of 2026, organisations will be empowered to operate critical workloads in a secure setting.

Pascal Bouchiat, Senior Executive Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer of Thales, remarked, "SAP is a cornerstone of Thales’ transformation, with a proven track record in supporting complex industrial operations and supply chain environments. Leveraging SAP within a trusted cloud platform such as PREMI3NS by S3NS is a natural step in our transformation journey, delivering the security, resilience, and compliance the Group requires."

S3NS, a joint venture between Thales and Google Cloud, is dedicated to delivering secure cloud solutions for both public and private entities. By broadening its network of software partners, with SAP being a significant addition, the company aims to offer an extensive range of services and foster AI adoption.

The strategic alliance between SAP and S3NS is expected to strengthen trusted cloud capabilities in France and cater to Europe's escalating need for cloud business transformation. Data will be processed and stored exclusively in France under French jurisdiction, benefiting from top-notch cloud technology and SAP’s comprehensive innovation stack, including AI-driven features.

As the first SAP customer on S3NS’ SecNumCloud infrastructure, Thales is undertaking a transformative overhaul of its ERP landscape, adhering to SAP's 'clean core' principle to ensure long-term flexibility and future-readiness. This initiative aims to unify essential business processes such as finance, supply chain, manufacturing, and procurement on PREMI3NS, the Trusted Cloud by S3NS.
