Reviving Political Influence in South Australia
South Australian Legislative Council member Sarah Game has officially joined the Family First party. She becomes the first member since the party’s revival in 2021.
Game will represent Family First in the South Australian Parliament. She is set to lead the party’s Legislative Council team in the 2030 state election.
Family First National Director Lyle Shelton welcomed her decision, stating it strengthens their advocacy for family, faith, life, and freedom. “I am delighted that someone so closely aligned with the values that matter to Australian mums and dads has chosen to join Family First,” Shelton said.
Game’s Legislative Priorities
Sarah Game expressed her enthusiasm for consolidating values-aligned minor parties. She highlighted Family First as a necessary political force to amplify Australian family voices in Parliament.
Her immediate legislative focus is on the Termination of Pregnancy (Restricts Termination after 24 weeks and 6 Days) Bill 2026. This bill seeks to prevent late-term abortions and is set to be debated and voted on 17th June.
Game aims to criminalise conduct that causes the death of an unborn baby under certain circumstances, such as during driving offences.
Shelton expressed optimism about Game’s role in advancing policies that support family wellbeing. “Family First welcomes Sarah to our family and looks forward to working together,” he stated.
Game’s joining marks a significant moment for Family First, being the first representative to sit in the South Australian Parliament under the party’s banner since its revival. Her involvement is expected to enhance the party’s influence and outreach.
According to Shelton, her leadership will play a crucial role in building a strong platform for Family First’s campaign in the upcoming 2030 state election. The party aims to resonate with Australian families through its core values and legislative efforts.
Family First, which was revived in 2021, focuses on issues like family, faith, life, and freedom. Sarah Game’s leadership is expected to propel these values forward in the South Australian Parliament.
